Intermediate/Improvement

Improvement of techniques in paddling, duck diving, sitting in the line up, wave selection, catching waves, handling the drop front side and backside, timing on the wave, positioning of the body on the board, hydrodynamics of the board, basic manoeuvres (bottom turn, cut back, off the lip).

To be part of the intermediate surf course, you need to be able to demonstate all aspects of the beginner course.

A surfer needs to be clear and honest with themselves as to what level they are at in order to help with their progression and development.

At this stage in your progress, you will learn to take the drop when surfing green, unbroken waves and to descend to the base of the wave setting yourself up for the first and most important manoeuver, the bottom turn. (to turn at the base of the wave) Learning and mastering this manoeuver is what will allow you to be able to progress along the wave and as such perform another manoeuver such as a cutback, floater or off-the-lip.

We will go into greater detail about what boards do what and how all of the functions work and make sure your using the right board for your hight, weigth and surfing ability.

Having the right equipment is key to helping you progress. Also knowing what wave types and conditions you should be surfing in will allow you to get to the next level a lot quicker whilst having maximum fun, which is what it’s all about.
